GOGO Music unleashes the “60 Hertz Project” invigorated with Ralf GUM, Essential I and QB Smith treatments. Their world debut single “Capricorn” is an admirable jazz house affair featuring magnificent Vibraphone and Guitar soli with a good dose of melancholy.

60 Hertz Project was formed mid June 2009 in Pretoria and is a live performing group fusing musicians and producers. It was initiated by the young producer and DJ talented BlackJean. He was joined by the likeminded Deeptwelve and MarvinK, who inspired to collaborate with pianist SDK, bass-player Kmor, guitarist Tap plus percussionist and vocalist Cromy. Conjoined they deliver an outstanding performance combining live played instrumentation and electronic beats which brings jazz to the house club and house to the jazz bar. GOGO Music now releases with “Capricorn” their first ever record crowing with remixes by Ralf GUM, QB Smith and Essential I.

Essential I established himself in South Africa alongside regular production partner Mindlo for some time. His signature work includes remixes for the likes of Black Coffee and Zakes Bantwini who asked him to rework their smash “Juju”. His remix of “Capricorn” slipped into the bag tastemakers like Rocco who ever since can not stop playing it. In their motherland the mix already is a true anthem mere by the massive support from the few lucky ones like DJ Christos or Vinny Da Vinci who got the track.

Ralf GUM could not only resist signing the “Capricorn” for his GOGO Music label, but lent as well his protruding talent for a remix. Omitting the original harmonies and sparingly adding fresh deep chords in addition to his a fierce percussive drum track this remix aims straight to the floor and takes the Soli to a whole other sphere.

QB Smith who lately started his own label with the critical acclaimed “Selfish Skies” release, takes the original harmony progression and takes it further. Crowned with a new recorded vocal and great piano work out, his mix is a highly appreciated artistic addition to the release, which is completed by Essential I’s Deeper Club Mix and 60 Hertz Project’s Main Mix.

GOGO Music always kept an eye on and 2 ears open for new talent and thus has discovered and introduced many new artists to the scene, some of them now on top of their game. With the talent of “60 Hertz Project” and the superb variety of coruscant remixes included there is no reason why this can’t happen once more.

The song is clubby track with much deep flavuor. The instrumental parts composed by a xylophone solo with strings melodies under and a slamming guitar with blues touch. All instruments are composed with refined and amazing arrangements. Music Rules! The Essential I Remix has a percussive beat with soft pad melodies that accompanies all the song. Ralf GUM remix has particular sounds in his percussive rhythm and the pad melodies are a little bit hard that will work on dancefloor. QB's Hot Night Mix has a strong groove with fat bassline. A piano melody under a female choir, clap sound over the track, synth melodies at the end bring us in a travel mind. Essential I Deeper Club Mix has a classic groove with deep bass, long break with solo instrument... slow and deep. Main Mix is the more classic version in this release. If you play deep or need a track to round out a soulful night when the ceiling's dripping sweat, then definitely check out this release. Go with any of the five - you can't go wrong. After a few listens, you'll feel the intense energy, perhaps because they're all supa-chill deep. The Main Mix starts clear and light, before its deep groove makes an appearance. QB's Hot Nights Mix has a warm opening that wraps itself around your body like a giant, fuzzy blanket when it's bitter cold and snowy. There's even a sweet, errie vocal bit in the second half just before some hand claps bust in. (Full disclosure: I am SUCH a sucker for hand claps!). Label owner Ralf GUM's remix really makes the vibraphone and guitar shine over those same hand claps, and the thick, striped-down percussive opening is fab. The two Essential I mixes are gems, too. The Essential I Remix spreads an African House vibe in the beginning, along with some subtle crickets chillin' in the background. Essential I's Deeper Club Mix has these amazing off-beat stick taps that were too complicated to follow; but just step back, listen and you'll really appreciate what their off-beatness adds. by Terry Matthew
